A Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) is a professional healthcare provider. A CNM is a registered nurse who has graduated from an advanced education program accredited by the American College of Nurse-Midwives and must pass a national certification examination and meet strict requirements set by state health agencies.
What does Midwife mean?
Midwife means "with woman". Nurse mid-wives provide safe, personalized healthcare and understand the physical, social, spiritual, and emotional needs of women. CNMs provide routine gynecological care and carry on a tradition of assisting women in the safe delivery of babies. They use their professional skills and the availability of advances and techniques in modern medicine.
Nurse midwifery focuses on a woman's wellness and consumer choice and also welcomes questions and takes the time to listen.
